Off-Road Bikes

MOUNTAIN

Mountain bikes are specifically designed to ride rougher trails and unpaved surfaces. They will have flat bars, a low gear range to allow for climbs, and some combination of suspension. A “hard tail” mountain bike only has front suspension while a “full-suspension” mountain bike has both front and rear. Hard tail vs. full-suspension is very dependent on rider type, ride motivation, terrain, and comfort level. Hard tails are generally regarded as faster, so riders looking to race shorter distances will often go this route. Riders doing longer distances, rougher terrain, and/or riders looking for more comfort will often choose full suspension.

Orbea OIZ

Why we love this bike: The OIZ is all new for 2019 coming in two configurations, the standard 100mm travel world cup geometry for folks looking to send it and a slightly more forgiving 120mm travel trail (TR) version. The TR bumps up to a Fox 34 fork and a dropper while the WC keeps the Fox 32 and a rigid post. Mavic wheels and Sram GX are standard on the ‘entry level’ models seen below as are custom paint options. Full Eagle AXS is coming summer 2019 along with the new XTR group if desired.

Like all MYO Orbea products, custom paint and component selection is standard with everything built to order in the northern region of Spain. These are some colors we had fun choosing but you’re welcome to pick your own at no additional cost.

Orbea OIZ TR - $5,400.00

Orbea OIZ - $5,000.00

Orbea OIZ TR - $5,400.00

Orbea OIZ - $5,000.00

Orbea Rallon

Why we love this bike: The Rallon is a full carbon enduro platform with 160mm front travel and 150mm rear travel. You’re thinking thats crazy aren’t you? Trust us, it rides like a dream and climbs better than you think. We’ve never had someone do a test ride and not come back grinning ear to ear. Spec wise you get a Fox 36 up front, strong DT Swiss wheels, 2.5 29 inch tires, Sram GX, and a dropper. Upgrades and custom paint are of course available.

Like all MYO Orbea products, custom paint and component selection is standard with everything built to order in the northern region of Spain. These are some colors we had fun choosing but you’re welcome to pick your own at no additional cost.

Orbea Rallon - $5,500.00

Orbea Alma OMP - Carbon

Why we love this bike: Like other bikes in the Orbea lineup there are two different frame models, OMP and OMR (performance and race). The OMR is a higher modulus of carbon and thus a bit lighter and stiffer than OMP with a starting price of ~$4k. What we love about the OMP frame though is its boost (148mm rear spacing) at an entry level price point so you can upgrade it later on without it going out of date like a lot of other entry level carbon frames. This bike has a 1x12 Sram NX Eagle group, hydro disc brakes, a Rock Shox air fork, and your choice of 27.5 and 29 inch wheel size.

MYO custom paint and component selection becomes available on the OMR version of the Alma with the OMP models coming in stock colors only. Both bikes are still built to order in the northern region of Spain. These are some colors we had fun choosing but you’re welcome to pick your own at no additional cost.

Orbea Alma M50 - $2,000.00

Orbea Alma M50 - $2,000.00

Orbea Alma - Alumnium

Why we love this bike: This bike is just like the carbon model but with an aluminum frame for a more entry level price of $1400. This still comes with the 1x12 Sram NX Eagle group, hydro disc brakes, a Rock Shox air fork, and your choice of 27.5 and 29 inch wheel size. Stock colors are shown below.

The model below does not quality for MYO (Orbea’s custom paint program) but is still built in Spain.

Orbea Alma H30 - $1,400.00

Orbea Alma H30 - $1,400.00

Orbea Laufey

Why we love this bike: You might know this bike as the Loki… it had a name change mid model year in 2017 due to Loki being the name of something (one) else. Its still the same bike though, 27.5+ tires on an aluminum hardtail frame, 130mm travel Rock Shox air fork, a 1x11 Shimano component group, and the ability to run standard 29 inch wheels if desired.

The model below does not quality for MYO (Orbea’s custom paint program) but is still built in Spain.

Orbea Laufey H30 - $1,500.00

Orbea MX ENT

Why we love this bike: ENT stands for ‘entrance’ - basically the top tube dips down more for a lower stand over height. All other spec options are the same as the normal MX series. These are limited to a 27.5 inch tire and smaller frame sizes. Head to the normal MX section below where we cover the model more in depth.

The model below does not quality for MYO (Orbea’s custom paint program) but is still built in Spain.

Orbea MX ENT 50 - $650.00

Orbea MX ENT 50 - $650.00

Orbea MX

Why we love this bike: The MX series is a great ‘sport’ mountain bike line that lends itself to the beginner with a more upright feel than the racier bikes seen at higher price points. We keep two models in stock, the MX30 and MX50 with the primary differences being:

MX30: 9 speed rear, 3 speed front, remote lockout for the front fork - Also has a clutched rear derailleur for easy 1x conversions if desired.

MX50: 8 speed rear, 3 speed front, no remote lockout but has a lever ON the fork for lock out.

Both models have Shimano hydro disc brakes, aluminum frames, and 27.5 / 29 inch wheel options with several colors in the lineup.

The model below does not quality for MYO (Orbea’s custom paint program) but is still built in Spain.

Orbea MX 50 - $650.00

Orbea MX 30 - $850.00

Orbea MX 50 - $650.00

Orbea MX 30 - $850.00

GRAVEL

These bikes are one of the newer categories of road bikes. They are similar to cyclocross bikes in that they can handle many terrain types, including but not limited to, pavement, dirt, gravel, sand, grass, etc. The difference is that these bikes generally have larger tires than cyclocross bikes and sit the rider up higher for more use on longer distances and touring. These bikes are equipped with mount points for cargo and are a great all use bicycle.

Orbea Terra

Why we love this bike: This is one of our favorite bikes in the shop as it can do just about everything. Grit took the Terra to race Dirty Kanza in 2018 and 2019 and it left us very impressed. We have customers running the bike with road wheels in the summer and gravel wheels in the winter and selling their dedicated road bikes as well. Full carbon frame (aluminum available spring 2019), 1x or 2x components, factory built or ask us about a custom build for you.

Like all MYO Orbea products, custom paint and component selection is standard with everything built to order in the northern region of Spain. These are some colors we had fun choosing but you’re welcome to pick your own at no additional cost.

Orbea Terra - $3,767.00

Orbea Terra - $3,500.00

CYCLOCROSS

This bike type will often look similar to a road bike in that it will have drop bars and a similar frame shape. This bike has a few unique features, however, that allow it to be used on a mixed surface course. The big difference is that this bike typically has wider tires and different tread that allows it to be used on a cyclocross course, typically consisting of a mix of pavement, dirt trails, gravel, sand, grass, etc.
